М49 alloy is a copper-nickel alloy (Cu56Ni44 alloy). It is characterized by high electrical resistance, high ductility and good corrosion resistance.

It can be used at temperatures up to 400 ° C.

Typical applications for the M49 are heat-resistant potentiometers, industrial rheostats and starter motor resistances.

Due to its high specific resistance, it can be used in the manufacture of precision winding resistors.

The M49 alloy is made of electrolytic copper and pure nickel. For finer wire sizes, the alloy is designated as M49TC (thermocouple).
